Description
This IR entails the software architecture and implementation of a data platform based on data space architecture. Essentially, it supports crosscompany transfer of data and discovery of resources. In addition, the platform includes the implementation of a digital thread service which automatically orchestrates the data sharing. The data platform manages information about the companies and their data in the form of a knowledge graph based on existing standards and ontologies. The semantic model in the form of a knowledge graph provides a semantic layer for interoperability that relates data from multiple participants: product data (static e.g., CAD, BOM, and dynamic e.g., quality control results) as well as manufacturing service/resource data – both static (e.g. service description) and dynamic (e.g. availability data). Main project asset value: the knowledge graph allows populating the UniMaaS models with the right data. That is, in the context of UniMaaS, the required up to date information about resources and manufacturing services for each of the models developed in the Modelling and Decision-making suites. Main industry asset value: support for cross-company transfer of data and discovery of resources. The architecture allows the transfer of crossorganization RDF datasets using IDS-compliant standards. Furthermore, the architecture allows for automatic data transfer according to the dataset’s descriptive information, ensuring only relevant datasets are shared and strengthening collaboration in the manufacturing ecosystem.
Main Innovations
- Data Spaces architecture focused on MaaS ecosystems: The Data Spaces allows secure and trusted data sharing, where each organization can restrict those who have access to their data. In MaaS ecosystems this allows only trusted organizations to access and share information about their resources and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support for knowledge graphs in data spaces: Extensions on Data Spaces frameworks which are compliant to security standards to support the data transfer of RDF datasets. Each transferred dataset becomes part of a central Knowledge Graph which integrates RDF datasets from different organizations as part of the Data Spaces. In UniMaaS, the defined interoperability requirements ensure that all incoming data aligns with the project’s semantic model
- Discovery and automatic orchestration of data sharing for Manufacturing ecosystems: This allows to automatically transfer RDF datasets which are interesting or necessary for the mentioned construction of the central KG. This is an automatic process which ensures that not only the central KG is up to date with the most recent information of the organizations but also is able to select only the necessary datasets based on defined metadata.
