1st Use Case

Overview
Aircraft maintenance is at the heart of keeping fleets safe and operational. It includes everything from routine inspections to more complex overhauls (A-, B-, C-, and D-checks), all of which need to be carefully planned, often months or even years in advance. This planning is essential to ensure that the right people, tools, and spare parts are available at the right time.
Challenges & Objectives
In practice, maintenance planning is rarely straightforward. Unexpected tasks can appear at any time, while changes in how aircraft are used (e.g., flight hours or cycles) can shift maintenance timelines. These uncertainties often lead to delays, last-minute adjustments, and increased costs. The goal here is to make maintenance planning more resilient, so schedules can better absorb these disruptions.
Technical Approach
To address this, the use case adopts a proactive, risk-aware planning approach. By blending historical data, current operations, and AI predictions, it anticipates maintenance needs before they become critical. Mapping component interconnections also helps teams see how one issue can impact others, enabling smarter scheduling, balanced workloads, and more efficient resource use.
Expected Impact
The solution enables smoother data exchange between aviation stakeholders and supports optimized maintenance scheduling at Aegean Airlines’ facilities. Through the use of Digital Product Passports (DPP), the lifecycle of aircraft parts can be tracked more effectively, offering better visibility and control. Overall, this approach helps reduce downtime, improve aircraft availability, and support more sustainable and efficient operations.
